Summer Safety Day

July 7, 2015

ALBANY, N.Y. – Mohawk Ambulance Service hosted its First Annual Summer Safety Day in July 2015 at Mohawk’s Central Avenue location in Albany. The event was an opportunity for Mohawk Ambulance Service to host a community event focused on safety in collaboration with multiple organizations including, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Albany Police Department, Albany Fire Department, Albany County Executive’s Office, Albany Office of Public Works, and City Harvest Family Church.Summer Safety1

Children and families in the nearby community were invited to participate in a number of activities and presentations. Police provided Operation SAFE Child identification cards; the Albany Office of Public Works demonstrated proper car seat installation; ambulances and a fire engine were open for children to climb through and the Albany Police horses even made an appearance.

“We’re happy to provide a fun way to remind families to keep safety in mind when enjoying all the different summer activities there are,” said James P. McPartlon, III, president of Mohawk Ambulance Service. “We are grateful to all the partners who participated in the event, making it an educational and entertaining way for people to learn about summer safety.”

The coordination among the many community agencies who participated played a big part in the success of the event and one in which Mohawk Ambulance plans to continue building in the future.

Albany Police Chief Brendan Cox stressed the importance of community agencies working together on these types of events. “Throughout the summer months we must always keep safety in mind. Through collaborative efforts we can continue to educate the members of our community on the importance of bicycle safety, pedestrian safety, fireworks safety and crime prevention,” said Cox. I’d like to thank the dedicated staff at Mohawk Ambulance for inviting us to their First Annual Summer Safety Day and look forward to this event’s continued success in the years to come.”
